Word 2003 is unable to open any documents

Patrick

I've just installed Office 2003 SBE on a computer. I can
create, edit, print documents with Word. However, if I go
to open an existing document - either one I've saved, or
one from another computer - I receive the following
message:
"The document xxxxxxxx is not available"

I then receive an error from Visual Basic stating:
"run-time error '1024"

The document does not open and when I go to close Word, I
receive a message asking if I want to overwrite
the "normal.doc" file.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office with no
luck. Is there a way to completely remove the product
from the computer and start from stratch?

I have the same problem "the Document XXX is not
available". I use Office XP and neither Word nor Excel
opens a file. I had Norton Anti Virus which I uninstalled,
am currently using AVG anti virus version 6. I also use
WordPerfect in the same computer and have absolutely no
problem loading any document into WP. Please Help I am at
my wits end. Thank you.

If Norton AV was installed at one time then the DLL for the Office
Plug-in could still be registered.

Search for : officeav.dll

If you find it then go to Start/Run and run the following command:

regsvr32 /u "<path>\officeav.dll"

Here is a KB article that provides a few additional details. It does
not include information on Norton CE but it will contain additional
details on the unregister command if you need them:
