Word 2003 - JPEG transparent background problem

I have a JPEG with a transparent background. However, when I drop it into a
Word 2003 page the transparent background comes out black. Is there a
solution, please?

Since jpeg doesn't support tranparency, you're probably getting just the
normal background of the image?

Save the jpeg to a format that does support transparency, (gif, png) and in
that format set the tranparent color.

Hi Gareth,

To add to Val's reply, although JPG files don't have transparency, Word does have a feature tha may work (depends on how many colors
are in the 'background' and where else they appear in the graphic).

Ater inserting the graphic through Insert=>Picture=>From file into a Word document use View=>Toolbars=>Picture and select the
'transparency' tool and click on the background area of the picture.
