Hi Tim,
Do you also use Norton AV? If you do then go to Norton Options and in
the Miscellaneous section turn off "Enable Office Plug-in".
Failing that then you can check for other add-ins under
Tools/Templates and Add-ins. If there are add-ins listed under the
Global templates and add-ins list then these will be located in your
Office\Startup folder or Word Startup folder.
Once located move the add-ins out of the folder to prevent them from
loading when Word starts. If there is more then one then move them one
at a time and try reproducing the error.
The Office\Startup folder is located in the Office installation path
and the location of the Word Startup folder can be determined by going
to Tools/Options/File Locations. And you can also use Windows Search
to locate the template(s).
Additionally a COM add-in could be the source of the error as well.
COM are added via the Registry rather than the Startup folders. To
determine whether or not you are using COM Add-In you can add the "COM
Add-in" command to your toolbar:
- Right-click any toolbar and select Customize
- On the Commands tab, select the Tools category
- Locate COM Add-Ins on the right
- Drag/Drop to a location of your choice
