I am running Office 2003 on WinXP Pro with 256 mg. It has worked fine until
about 2 weeks ago. Now, almost every time I open Word, it crashes and sends
an error report within 10-20 seconds of opening. It doesn't matter whether
I'm typing a new doc., loading one from the File|Open menu, or
double-clicking on it in the documents folder. I have not loaded any new
software or added any hardware. I have run updated virus scans that are
finding nothing. I have reinstalled Office 2003. I have deleted temp files.
I've checked to be sure that there's nothing wrong with the file locations
for temp and automatic backup files. I've checked the website support and
installed the latest updates. All to no avail. Outlook also crashes
periodically, but not with the same frequency. When I reinstall or try to
"repair" the installation, I always get a message that it is looking for a
missing CAB file and I have to insert the CD. It finds the file and moves
on, but ....
