Word 2003 ruler - "CH" units????

We have a user here who has Office 2003
and in WORD, the ruler seems to be in something called "CH" units. I have
no idea what this is.

Under TOOLS-OPTIONS-GENERAL it says Inches. If I change it to MM or CM, the
ruler does not change at all.
I have check the regional settings in XP, and they are all US-English.

Please help
