Word 2003-Task Pane reappears

I have unchecked the Startup Task Pane in Options/View and under View/Task
Pane, and it still returns. I have done this in Normal.dot and saved the
changes to no avail.

Any Ideas?

This is often due a third party registry hack or an add-in template in Word
Startup. For a proper and permanent solution to this, see
