Word 2003 - units of measurements on ruler

My ruler is suddenly displaying measurements in ch. It is also displaying
this measurement in the tab dialogue box. This happened a couple of years
ago and I can't remember how to change it. Help needed please.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | Measurement units:
<choose your preferred unit of measure> | OK. If Word won't let
you change the setting there, then see

Office XP", except that if you decide to delete the Settings
registry key, the Word 2003 key is
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data\Settings.
