Word 2003 - view/zoom has no effect - and solution

New documents are opened with the view set to 85% instead of 150%, which
used to be the default. Changing it with view/zoom has no effect.

Existing documents open with the view size they were saved with . . . and
can be changed . . . and changed back.

And now it works for new documents. All it took was working through the
information needed for this post. Problem solved.
