Word 2003

I'm trying to insert the date that a document was created into a footer using
the auto insert feature.

However,when I click on view\header & footer\insert autotext,nothing appears
in the drop down box.On previous versions of word this has caused no problems.

Any ideas?

This is usually the result of overwriting your Normal.dot global
template with a regular document. Try "Creating a new Normal.dot
from scratch" as described in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm .
