Word 2004: Clicking Print does nothing

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I have a 1.25 GHz PPC G4 eMac running Tiger (10.4.11) and Office 2004. The user has a remote home folder, so user preferences all live on a server.

When this user tries to print from Word and Excel, either by clicking the icon or File > Print, nothing happens. There is no print dialog, no error message, no anything.

We have had some success trashing all com.office.*.plist files and replacing the .GlobalPreferences.plist in ~/Library/Preferences/, but the problem is recurrent and now those are no longer helping at all.

I'd appreciate any tips or guidance.

I should also mention that this problem follows the user from computer to computer, so it definitely seems to be specific to the account.
