Word 2004 docs not opening on my Macbook Pro

O

olive

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) If Word is not open, and I double click on a doc to open it, the Word splash screen stalls on my desktop, and the doc will not open. I have to then force quit Word to exit.

If I just have the Word Application open, and try to open a doc from File > open, Word crashes.

This just started happening recently, without any system updates on my 2009 macbook pro, recently that I know of.

Any trouble shooting advice?

Maybe the lack of updates is the problem :) Make sure Office is at 12.2.3 &
Leopard needs to be at 10.5.8 in order for things to work properly. Also,
run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions, then shut down & wait a minute
or two before starting up.

If that doesn't correct the problem post back with results of each of the
following:

1- Run Word in a different User Account,

2- Launch Word while holding the Shift key.
