Word 2004 won't save htm files

When I open an htm file on my hard drive in Word 2004, the Save
command doesn't work. The error message appears: "A file error has
occurred. Check your network connections or make sure the disk is
properly inserted and not defective." Save As... works normally. Save
works normally with .doc files. No other application has this problem.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a permissions problem. See
