Word 2007 and grouping figures and captions

R

Rich W.

I'm diving into Word 2007 Tech Refresh 2 (or whatever the name of the latest
update is).

I have an image (an inserted jpg) with a caption. Typically, I group the
caption with the Image, but it's not letting me do it in Word 2007.

I've tried holding down the control key while clicking on the caption and
image. I've also tried the Ctrol key, to no avail. And clicking and dragging
around them worked.

Do I need to worry about this in Word 2007 or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help . . .

Probably, you're working with a combination of old-style graphics and the new
"Escher" tools. Word hasn't fully implemented the new graphics stuff, and new +
old don't work together in harmony in some respects. Grouping is one of them
<sigh>

How about inserting a FRAME and putting both the graphic (inline) and caption
in that? You get text-flow around the frame, and the caption is "visible" to
Word for cross-referencing and making TOCs. Win-win situation :)

The command to insert a frame can be found in the "gallery" at
Developer/Controls, in the list of Legacy Tools. (I put it in the QAT, I use it
so regularly :))

Thanks Cindy . . . I was wondering if it's a combination of graphics! I
haven't been much of a user of Frames; I may become one!
