Word 2007 can't copy text

I am using Word 2007 and suddenly I was no longer able to copy text
from any of my word documents. They aren't locked or protected or
anything. When I hover over text the cursor changes to a text
selection cursor, but when I left click and try to select text nothing
happens. I can't select pictures or anything either. I can't even
right click and get the context sensitive menus to come up either.
Any clues?
