word 2007. Equation editor. Centered equation does not remain centered when SAVE AS HTML

Nasser Abbasi

hello;

I installed word 2007 trial.

create an equation in new file.docx
I select centered as an option to the equation itself. The equation does
show centred inside the word document.
I then do SAVE AS and select HTML.
I then view the HTML page from a browser.
The equation is NOT centered.

Any one know if there is there a fix for this?

thanks,
Nasser

Hi Nasser,

The equations are 'floating objects' by default and the HTML doesn't see the justification. Right click on the border of the
equation and change it to 'inline' then use the 'center' button on the Home tab of the ribbon and the equation should appear more
centered.

You can add the command 'Web Page Preview' to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) by right clicking on the toolbar and going to the 'all
commands' section to be able to get a quick check in your browser without having to do edit/save/view/repeat :)

But are we talking about the same Word version? I am using trial version
word 2007 (btw, where is the HTLP->About on this new word?)

I tried to do what you suggested above. But when I right click on the
boarder of the equation, I do NOT see an 'inline' option? (do you select the
equation first? even so, there is no inline in this case, only
'professional' and 'display' and 'linear').

I also could not find the 'Web page preview' command to add to QAT. I found
many other things, but not this one.

I did download the professional 2007 trial?

thanks,
Nasser

Hi Nasser,

Yes, we're talking about Word 2007 :)

Help=>About moved to the Word Options dialog (Alt, T, O, R)

On the equation it would be a left click rather than right click.
If it's already 'inline' the context menu will show 'Change to Display' and 'Justification' will be greyed out. Use the Centering
choice on the Word home tab.

The Web Page preview command (on the File Menu in prior Word versions is in the 'All Commands' section of Word Options=>Customize
section.
