Word 2007: How do I close a document without closing the entire program?

In previous Word versions, there was a small black X that would allow you to
close just the opened document as opposed to the entire program--which you
could do by clicking a red X above the smaller black one. How do I bring
this helpful feature back.

Office Button-Close-Right-click, add to QAT....

From the office button - Word Options - Advanced - Display deselect
'Show All Windows In The Taskbar".
Far more convenient than adding & adding to the QAT. Also cuts down on
the clutter of doc windows all over the place if you have several
documents open at the same time...
