Word 2007: Images inserting under text, instead of inline

N

Nick Lardas

I am trying to insert a number of .png images into a word document. The
problem is, when I insert the images, they insert as a blank box, under the
text., with the bottom of the image aligned about where I had the curser.
I've tried copying the file in, and using the image insert dialog, but I get
the same results.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

Thank you,

Nick

Right-click the image; on the context menu, click Text Wrapping, and then
click In Line with Text.

You may also want to change the default wrapping style for images: Click
Office button | Word Options. In the Advanced category, choose "In line with
text" for "Insert/paste pictures as" (found in the "Cut, copy, and paste"
section).

Also, if you are saying that you cannot see the pictures in your document,
clear "Show picture placeholders" and select "Show drawings and text boxes
on screen" ("Show document content" section).

Setting either the text wrapping, or the image position to "In Line with
Text" sendthe image under the preceeding text.

I did get the image to shift inline by setting the position to "Top Center
with Square Wrapping" so I've got a stop gap for the moment.

I do still want to understand what is going on here, though.

Probably the line spacing in the paragraph is set to an Exact amount smaller
than the image.

That makes sense. I've been having isses with inline equations getting
chopped off, and had been tweaking the line spacing to see if I could find
fix it would leaving the text itself looking double lined. When I switched
the quickstyle of the image block from "normal" to "no space" the images came
through correctly.

I'll have to check my linespace settings and see what I broke.

Thanks,

Nick Lardas
