Word 2007 line spacing - Microsoft's imposed will!

For weeks I have been trying to figure out why it is that when I try and
single space my documents, they come out double-spaced. We are using the
Windows version of Office 2007. This was especially frustrating for me, and
my assistants, because we could not figure out what to change. We clearly had
single spacing set. Finally, this evening, I found the article KB921174
explaining that Microsoft had decided that all previously produced documents
were unreadable and that they needed to force a change to correct this
travesty of style!

What the hell are they thinking in the Office Group? Was this change made by
the same power-happy employee who made the now infamous decision to not allow
Mac users to download pictures by default setting in Entourage? Is the
Office group suffering from delusions of grandeur? Do they really think that
customers need for them to dictate what is "readable?" I don't think so, and
I don't need to waste my time trying to figure out manufacturer imposed style
changes.

Rest assured, this incident will figure into my decision regarding my next
software purchases.

G'Day Og,

You may need to alert your Department of Homeland Security - I
think that KB921174 was written in Iraq ...

Now, before tearing the hair out, you mabe not be right:
"This behavior maybe occurs because ..."

Are you using the correct language:
"Note Word 2007 of other language version maybe has the same default
line spacing and same default paragraph spacing as that of earlier version
Word."

Wow!!

LOL! Yeah, I did notice the excellent communication skills demonstrated in
that article. I was thinking maybe it was written in Bangalore. Is the extra
spacing meant to bridge the language gap?

Thanks for the laugh, Pat. ;o)
