Word 2007 Macro Recoding Problem

I just tried a simple record macro and it did not record what I expected.
I attempted to record a paste special unformatted text and it just recorded:
Selection.PasteAndFormat (wdPasteDefault)

This is not very close to what I did. Is there a way to get the macro
recording to work like previous versions?
