Hi Othalian,

If this is on Vista there may be something unique to that environment, but generally, the MS Word 2007 Math Add-in is a COM Add-in
tied to a file named MSCoreE.dll, so check for the presence of that file.

In Word be sure to check
Office Button=>Word Options=>Trust Center
that you haven't disabled Add-ins, in addition to checking the settings in
Word Options=>Add-Ins.

Hi Bob

Firstly thanks very much for taking the time to assist me with thi
problem

I checked my system and found the MSCoreE.dll file in th
Windows>System32 folder

In the Trust Centre>Add-ins page the only option selected is "Requir
Application Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher"

I rechecked the COM Add-in page and the Math Add-in is not listed o
listed as disabled

Is there any way to make a manual adjustment in the Registry to ge
this working? Or is there another workaround

Thanks agai

Hi Otahlian,

What content is in the folder
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Math Add-In for Word 2007
(or equivalent)?

What language is your system set to use as the default and what language is the default in Word 2007?

Hi Otahlian,

Hmmm, the only way I can duplicate the Add-in not being present in the Ribbon is in Word
Office Button=>Word Options=>Trust Center=>Add-ins
and not clearing the check boxes there.

Hi Again

I went to the Trust Centre and unchecked all the options in th
Add-ins, restarted Word and selected Insert to see if the button ha
been added, it made not difference

The add-in is not even listed to be disabled or enabled

There must be an easy answer to this but what it is I just don't know

Thank

Hi Othalian,

Well, it's certainly strange. I've had a similar issue with other Word 2007 addins from time to time.

Is this 'regular' Windows XP or a different flavor?

What is the version of MSCoreE.dll? In Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel is Microsoft .Net 2.0 SP1 listed? If so,
it may help to use the 'Click here for support' choice to try the 'repair' but back up before toying with things in the Control
Panel, just to be sure :)

If you uninstall the add-in, delete the Add-in folder, restart the PC, then run a Repair/Reinstall of Office 2007, test the apps
then download and install the add-in again do you get different results.

Hi Bob

I have been busy

Is this 'regular' Windows XP or a different flavor

*I have Windows Vista Business and Microsoft Office Enterprise 200
installed.

What is the version of MSCoreE.dll

*I have version 2.1.50727.1434 installed

In Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel is Microsoft .Ne
2.0 SP1 listed

*Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 is listed. Version 2.0 SP1 is installe
as part of the version 3.5 upgrade.

If so, it may help to use the 'Click here for support' choice to tr
the 'repair' but back up before toying with things in the Contro
Panel, just to be sure :

*I carried out a reinstall of the .Net Framework 3.5 and it has made n
difference. :-(

If you uninstall the add-in, delete the Add-in folder, restart the PC
then run a Repair/Reinstall of Office 2007, test the apps then downloa
and install the add-in again do you get different results

*I ran Microsoft Office Diagnostics which uncovered nothing . Delete
everything and reinstalled, still nothing. And that was with ne
downloads of .Net Framework 3.5 and Math Add-in.

Hi Othalian,

It's possible that this may have something unique to Vista, but I'm not able to reconfigure things to check on that at present
without impacting another project :(

Is .NET 2.0 listed as well as the 3.5? .NET is a somewhat odd product in some ways in that having a newer version doesn't always
mean that you'll have the features/compatibility of an older one or more that a specific add-in that is looking for a specific
version information tag will 'find' the newer version. At present, in the Windows XP machine, for example there are separate
listings of .NET Framework 1.1, 2.0 SP1, 3.0 SP1 and 3.5 <g>.

Hi Bob

As always thanks for the continued help and suggestions.

I only have version Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 installed. I have
attempted to install the required one but Vista throws up an error
stating it isn't compatable and then promptly uninstalls it for me.

It looks like I will have to forget about having this add-in on my
system.

Thanks again

Hi Othalian,

Vista does have its own ideas about what versions of .NET framework you can install, and you may want to check with either the .net
folks or the Vista folks on that.

I was hoping that perhaps one of the other folks here who have an available machine running Office 2007 and Vista would try to
install
Microsoft's Math Add-In for Office 2007 to see if it works for them.

I think it's highly unlikely that .NET Framework 3.5 is the only version
installed. I have a fresh installation of Vista here, and it has versions
1.0.3705, 1.1.4322, 2.0.50727, and 3.0 (but not 3.5 yet).

To check this, open the folder C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework and look at
the names of the subfolders there.

I just installed the Office 2007 Math Add-In, and it installed without trouble
and ran correctly in Word 2007.

Hi Jay,

Thank you for testing. So perhaps it's a case of needing to install the .NET frameworks in a sequence? I've run into a couple of
cases where trying to install things such as an XPS update it would fail trying to install because a 'newer version' of .NET was
already present :) I'll have to see if that's changed now that MSInstaller v4 is available.
