Word 2007 Not Respond & Failed to Auto-Recover

Hi !! First time to this forum . . . .

Got a new PC - Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2 with Office 2007 Student
version . . . . generally unfamiliar with this version . . . .
Word went to "Not Responding" during edits of a document. Had been manually
saved once. Window went pale, little wheel / timer was spinning, waited but
didn't come back so I closed it.
I thought I would get an Auto-recover when I re-opened Word but I didn't.
Checked Word Options and Auto-recover is on and set to save every 10 minutes
(must be a default because I haven't set it personally).
Looked through various Helps, looked for file in default ...../Roaming/Word
folder - not there.
Wanted to manually search for the .asd file (I think that's what it was in
those Helps) but can't even find Search Folders and Files option anywhere.

So, I've got a lot to learn, but can you tell me if there's any known reason
for the Not Responding (out of the blue - no power outage) - using
"Automatic Updates" so it should be current.
And where in the world did they hide the Search Folders and Files?

THANKS !!!

Also, the Event Viewer showed a "Warning" at the time it went unresponsive -
EventID 7002, reads as follows:

ID: 0, Application Name: Microsoft Office Word, Application Version:
12.0.6504.5000, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6425.1000. This session
lasted 7759 seconds with 7260 seconds of active time. This session ended
with a hang.

So again, do you know why it went "Not Responding", why did Auto-Recover not
work although it is on and set to save every 10 minutes, and, where is the
Search Folders and Files?

Thanks !!
