Word 2007 Printing problem

Hi All,
I've come accross a strange printing problem I cannot sort out, can anyone
off some advice or anyone else come accross it?
This is my set up.
Epson 245 printer connected via USB to Maxtor Shared Storage plus drive
connected to Belkin wireless router.
When printing from word 2007 by quick print or normal the document prints
but then word keeps comming up with trying to connect to printer and echape
to cancel. You cannot do anything else within word apart from escape and
then word hangs and you have to restart. The document prints out fine but
this fault is a pain.
Now all other programs print out fine ie from outlook, excell but not word.
I've tried turning of background printing etc but makes no difference.
The printer driver is a Vista driver.
Anyone any ideas please!
Regards,
Len

Now I'm finding that the same thing happens with print preview and when
saving a new document?

I've installed to my second PC and the same thing happens.

I am lost I cannot now see that it is anything to do with my printer setup
as everything else is OK.

Why come up with this message when saving as well?? Also when you escape
from the printing problem word stop responding.

Len

Have you checked with the printer manufacturer to see if they have updated
the driver or if they are aware of the problem and have a temporary fix.

Terry,
I have downloaded the latest Vista compliant driver from Epson.
What I cannot understand is why, if it was the printer driver, only word is
affected?
Also why when saving a document would it come up with the connecting to
printer error.
Its driving me mad as I cannot print anything in word!

Because Word uses the printer driver intensively because Word's page layout
is controlled entirely by the parameters it extracts from the driver. That's
why if you change printers, it may change the layout of a document. Most
other applications don't need the printer driver until they print.

I believe that there have been other reports of incompatibilities with Dell,
HP and Epsom printers too.
