Adding the New/Open choices to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) is a reasonable suggestion

Just a thought..
Why not put NEW and OPEN on the quick access toolbar as a DEFAULT?
unless they're hiding on one of the ribbons somewhere, I think that when you
open an application those are the two most common buttons you'd be looking
for. >>
