Word 2007 shows the macro script for page number but not the numbe

In Word 2007 when I try to run a Microsoft macro like page number or
header/footer, I can see the script for the page number or header/footer but
not the actual page number or header/footer. This problem is evident in new
documents I create, as well as in older documents.

The OS is Windows XP Pro.

I've "repaired" Office 07, and have uninstalled and reinstalled it, but the
problem remains. The macro security settings are the default settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

There is nothing that needs repairing. You have set the View options to
display fieldcodes instead of results. Check under Word Options, Advanced,
Show Document Contents.

Hi Sdysart,

If you're seeing the Word feel code, try using Alt+F9 to toggle back to field results.

If you're seeing the Word feel code

Or you could offer it a sweater and a tissue.
