Word 2007 student version hangs on Research/Thesaurus selections

Every time I try to select Research/Thesaurus my windows completely hangs and
I have to kill it from Task Manager. Running Word 2007 (with latest updates)
on XP SP2. If this is about antivirus (which is McAffee), I cannot image I
have to turn that off. I don't have any other ideas but I would really like
to use the features.
