Word 2007 will not start

I have a problem with Word 2007. I've been looking all night for a solution
to no avail... Everytime I try to start Word (either from the Word shortcut
or by opening a document), I get the Word splash screen, then a Word window
opens with no document on it, then a pop-up comes up that says "preparing
installation..." and then everything closes and nothing more happens... No
errors, just no more activity...
One peculiar thing I noticed, is that there is no Normal.dotm file in the
templates folder, so my guess is that for some reason Word cannot create the
Normal.dotm file, so it crashes, but I don't know why...
I am running Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Office Enterprise 2007... All other
installed office applications work fine...
Any ideas? Thanks

After a good night sleep and a new try I found the solution to the problem...
Turns out Word was set to run in compatibility mode for Windows 98/ME...
After turning that off, Word started without problems and the Normal.dotm
file was created in the templates folder... cheers
