I'm having an issue with word 2007, if i try to open a document it can take
up to 3 mins to open, however if i open word directly it opens within
seconds. I have tried with several different documents including ones that
are empty of text. i have removed all previous versions of office, and i have
tried a disk repair. any help would be greatly appriceted.

I am also having serious issues with Word 2007. Any time I try and
open a document within word using the ctrl-o shortcut, the entire
program hangs and crashes. The crash self-discovery tool doesn't
work, so I have to use task manager to end the program. This has also
happened when hitting ctrl-s, although this is less frequent. Why is
Word 2007 so unstable?
Thanks,
DJZ

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm. The same
procedures work in Word 2007, with the main exceptions that the Normal
template has an extension of .dotm, and if you need to rebuild the Data key
(described in the linked page
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm) the version
number is 12.0.

Also see http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm and
http://www.theofficeexperts.com/word.htm#TroubleshootingWord.

And please don't assume that Word 2007 is any more unstable than other
versions -- with respect to problems of this sort, they're all much the
same.
