Word 2008 NOT converting Background Color to PDF

I have a Word document, created in Word 2008, which has a background
color on it. When I go to convert the document to a PDF, the
background color is not transferring.

I've gone into preferences and clicked on all the "print background
colors and images" and in "view background color and images in print
preview," but nothing seems to be working for this PDF issue.

Am I asking the impossible? This seems like such a silly thing to not
work!
