Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have a MacBook here are my specs:

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Whenever I run Word for more than 10 minutes my fans start going crazy and Word uses about 89% CPU. My fans usually never turn on otherwise.

I have heard that it has something to do with spotlight. But I really don't have a clue what I am doing. PLEASE HELP!

Ok, after playing around with the settings, I found that if I turn the Grammar Check off, the CPU goes back to normal. I have been writing in German, so I guess that is the reason for it... which sucks. I hope there is a fix for it soon.

Did you use Help>Send Feedback to report this issue to Microsoft?

I think this is the first we have heard of the Grammar Checker doing this.

In an English version of Word 2008, on Macbook with half the memory of
yours, my fans are silent. So there is something wrong.

I agree: It's likely it is the German grammar checker.

Cheers
