Word 2010 template created on PC won't work on MAC

I created a template in 2010 Word with dropdowns to select values from a menu or type in a new value. The template works fine on PCs. When I send the document to anyone on a MAC, they say the dropdowns aren't there, but they can type in a new value. Anyone have an idea why the Combined Box Combo Control works in Word PC but not in Word MAC?
