Word 2k Outline Numbering - Number format - Number style - Previous Level Number

R

Ren

I have set up my headings per Shauna Kelly's web site. The problem I'm
having now is getting the number formats to behave. What I want is
something like.

1.0 Heading 1
1.1 Heading 2
1.2 Another Heading 2 item
1.2.1 Heading 3
2.0 Another Heading 1
2.1 Heading 2
3.0 Another Heading 1

etc, etc

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance,
Ren

Hi Ren,

And how exactly is your outline misbehaving?

Should we call in Austin Powers? <g>

Hi Bruce,

Do you mean (1) in the document itself when starting to type a paragraph to
which the Heading 1 style has been applied, or (2) in the dialog where we
set up the outline attributes?

Ok,

Then I do not know what to say Bruce.
It does not "misbehave" for me... So you are going to have to be less
cryptic about the misbehaving and give us a real description of the problem
as you see it.

My hunch was that adding a ".0" in the Customize Outline Numbered List
box for level 1, then using Legal Style numbering for levels 2, 3,
etc., would solve Ren's problem. Apparently it did since she didn't
come back.

Suzanne's answer (2) referred to your choice (2) about the dialog box.

Sorry Suzanne and Bruce,

I should have been more explicit in my reply to Suzanne's post.

My post was actually directed to the OP. But I guess we lost her! Actually,
I did not notice that Bruce was Bruce Brown and not the OP. So when I wrote
"Bruce" in my reply, I thought I was addressing the OP! (I had asked a
question to Ren, the OP, then Bruce answered my question by giving advice to
Ren, but it totally eluded me at the time... I just assumed that Bruce's
reply to my post in reply to Ren's was actually from Ren - so I thought that
Bruce was Ren... Have I succeeded in thoroughly confusing everyone now!

I'll quit before I end up needing medication!
