Hi Nina,

In Word 6 you need to have the entire row selected (including the End
of Row mark) or make sure the cursor is flashing in the row in order
for Insert Rows under the Table menu to be available. Otherwise the
command will read "Insert Cells...". Which btw, has an option to
insert a row.

As for the "Insert Cells" command: the "Insert Table" command changes
to an Insert Row/Insert Column/Insert Cells command (the icon does not
change) depending on what is selected in the table.

Note you can easily insert a new row in a table if you move your
cursor to the end of the row, outside the table, and press Enter.

If the above doesn't resolve the problem and the Insert command is
missing from the Table menu then:
1. Go to View/Toolbars
2. Click "Customize..."
3. Select the Menus tab
4. Select Tables in the Categories section on the left
5. Select the "TableInsertGeneral" command on the right
6. Change "Position on menu" to "(At Top)"
7. Click the "Add" command

Also note if your friend wants to reset the menu bar back to the
defaults instead of manually modifying it then he can skip the above
steps 4 - 7 and click "Reset All" command instead.
