Word 97 - Can't save documents

Recently I've have been unable to save any documents in Word 97 (new documents or ones that I've edited, and then tried to save the changes I've just made). The error message I get each time is "WORD CANNONT COMPLETE THE SAVE DUE TO A FILE PERMISSION ERROR"

I've seen this error message in searches that I've done in an attempt to correct the problem, but I have not found a resolution yet. My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition SP1. I suspect the problem is the result of a recent MS Security update, but MS Techsupport has been no help

Anyone got a clue

This seems to be a problem because of type of user account you might be
running under. Is it a Administrator or User account in XP Home? Are you
saving the Word document over a network?

Have you applied Service Release 2 for Office 97? Try disabling your
anti-virus program if you have any running.

I read in a KnowledgeBase faq, Word97 cannot do Fast SAve
over a network. Only Full Save. Tools OPtions to change
saves. Sorry, I cannot remember file name.
Outlook can also, create a problem.
