Word 97 locks up on exit attemptt

Although I have no problem saving documents, when I try
to close Word, it locks up my computer. This happens
regardless of how I try to close (menu or clicking X).
This has only recently started. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Possibly some third party app has added a custom AutoClose macro. To test
for this, start Word in Safe Mode: from Start, Run type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word will open in engineering mode. Now close Word. If it
close OK, it proves it is an add-in of third party macro. Take a look at the
