Word 97, Outlook Express 6

My spell checker will not work when I send out e-mail. It keeps telling me
that it was interrupted. Now I read that Outlook uses Word for its
dictionary, so maybe the version of Word (see Subject, above) is what's at
issue. Anyone know of a work around?
