Word 97 Read only Error

I am having trouble with Word 97 not opening a read only
password protected document. I can open fine if I use
the password. But if I click on Read only button, I get
Blank doc or nothing opens. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi Chris,

Are you also using Windows NT or Windows XP? If so then there was a
bug corrected in Service Release 2.

Here is some info on how to obtain all of the updates (note you need
SR-1 before you can install SR-2)
