WORD 97 - Required Libraries

George

Hope I'm in the right place for this question.

My operating system is Win98 SE with WORD 97. My problem
is that whenever I try to open a .doc file from "My
Documents" into WORD 97, I get this pop-up message:

Cannot find the file "C:\My Documents\_____.doc
(or one of its components). Make sure the path
and file name are correct and that all required
libraries are available.

OK

If I click the "OK" button and then click on the same .doc
file, it opens beautifully. But I would like not to have
to continue with this double duty routine.

How do I find out which "path" and "required libraries"
are needed with WORD 97? Also, am I right in assuming
that "required libraries" are a .dll file?

Any and all help is welcome.

This may be just a simple registration problem. Go to Start, Run and type in

winword /r

and press enter. Nothing will seem to happen, but Word will reregister in
Windows.

Hello Terry,

Thanks for the help, but I followed your instruction
(Start>Run>Enter winword /r>Return Key) and it didn't
solve the problem. I'm just thankful my WORD still works -
even though it requires the two tries each time to get it
to open. Thanks again. George

Are you using Norton Anti Virus? If so, open NAV and disable the Office
Plug-in under Advanced Options.
