Word 97 Wild Card search problem-HELP!!!!

F

Fernandop

I have a PC running Windows XP and office 97.
In Word 97 I get this message when I try to do a wild card
search in the File-Open dialog: "you do not have access to
the folder see your administrator for access".

I get this whenever I put an asterisk in the file name
box. The file DOES exist and there is no folder
permissions problem. It happens on all directories....

HELP!!!!!

The problem is using the asterisk and it isn't a permissions issue.

Unfortunately you have encountered a bug in Office 97 and Windows XP
(and I think Windows 2000) that has yet to be corrected - nor do I
think it will ever be corrected since the error doesn't occur in later
versions of Office.

The suggested workaround is to use Windows Search utility instead.
