word always opens with a heading

hello,
for several months now we have been trying to correct this on our computer
with no success. this is the problem; my husband started to write something
in word, a newer addition than what we already had. after writing the
introduction he decided that he wanted to put a password on the document. he
played around with several buttons, options, etc but never succeeded in a
password. HOWEVER, he did something because now every time we open word
office the document he started appears as if it is a permanent part of word.
someone said it is part of headers`but we`ve tried everything to remove
it...no success. we even uninstalled word and reinstalled but the problem is
still there. can anyone help us with this annoying problem. thanks to all
who read this.
