Word and Excel files opening severely slow.

Any files located off of our personal machines and on the
server cause Word XP and Excel XP to load extremely
slow., and the program becomes non-respnsive. Blue Title
Bar and white screen. This only occurs after I have been
logged in for several hours and only with files located
on the server. Our machines only 30 days old and are P4
2.4 512 ram XP Pro and Office XP. Server 2000 with a
mapped drive for our files on our server and file
indexer. This is just a pain.

This problem has nothing to do with a anti-virus program,
none present, and I have set the autodisconnects to 45.5
days. and have tried the word troubleshooter and tried
and tested those exercises.

The problem again is only specific to Word and Excel and
files located on our server load extremely slow.

Oh yeah If I log off and log back on they work great for
about four hours before they start to flake again.

First point to correct is that Office HATES mapped drives because it needs
UNC paths. So go to Word, Tools, Options, File Locations tab and change all
the network drive paths to UNC.

The plug-in may still be registered. Try the following:

Search for officeav.dll and if found go to Start/Run and run the
following command:

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"

In the above example the path for "Officeav.dll" would depend on the
location of the DLL.

: Already Done makes no help still loads slow.
