If I start either Word or Excel directly then open a file in either the
response is quick, however if I double click on a doc (docx), xls (xlsx)
file it takes an 'age' to first open the application and a further extended
time to open the file. In Excel, the application will eventually open, much
slower than Word, but the file does not open. I have looked at 'file
association' and see nothing amiss and have renewed the association for
Office files without solving the problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Incidentally this is a new problem as
previously the applications did open files when double clicked without an
inordinate delay.
