word application - help

Please help
I have loaded 2000 professional / office (2 disks)
The Word icon tries to start word application but fails
with this message.
"Winword has caused error in MSO9.dll
Winword will now close"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled software, reboot , etc
tried service packs, What do I do???
