Word Art -- Maintaining Font Proportions

How do I maintain identical font proportions for two separate pieces of Word Art? I have two problems

First, if I create the pieces separately using the same font size, but one has a descending character and the other doesn't, they come out as different sizes. For instance, "Jane" has no descenders, while "Suzy" has a "y". As Word Art, the characters in "Jane" will be taller than those in "Suzy.

Second, even if I create a piece of Word Art and then revise it to have more (or fewer) characters than when originally created, the font proportions will change. For example, if the Word Art originally read "Chris" and I revise it to read "Christine," the font becomes much more condensed

What can I do in either -- or hopefully, in both -- situations to retain identical font proportions

Thanks in advance!

Getting the current version WordArt to emulate ordinary text is one of the
most frustrating tasks in Word. You've probably already figured out that the
nominal point sizes are a red herring. The only way you can format it,
unfortunately, is by hand and by eye. Sorry.
