Hi SF,

Yes, this is the place.

Good! I'm trying to design something using WordArt and I'm
having a couple of problems.

If you'd kindly take a look at the trademark on
www.hotwheels.com you'll see what I'm trying to do.

I'd like to make the words "Happy Birthday" curve like that.
I'm not interested in copying the colors, but I like the way
their letters get smaller around that curve. I'll also make
a circle with a name in it to complete the look.

Q: I see a Word Art shape which makes text diminsh to the
right, but nothing that would make it curve in the same
manner as the trademark. How would I do it?

TIA

If there is not a WordArt shape for it, you can't do it in WordArt. You need
a graphics app like CorelDraw or Illustrator.

Too bad! The birthday is tomorrow, so no time to research
now. I found a tutoriol on CorelDraw, but am mystified
about Illustrator... who makes it? Which is better idiot
proofed?

Adobe makes Illustrator. It's the preference of many graphic artists who use
Macs. It's possible it is more user-friendly than CorelDraw, but I doubt it.

I read one review that says Corel Draw isn't as good as
Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia FreeHand. It says that I'd
also need 512MB of RAM for my computer if I want more than
two other programs to run at the same time.

Do the other two need 512MB of RAM too?

Can I use all of them on a Win98? How easy is it to buy an
older/used edition? I'm not going to be doing any web
design, which it looks like they are really meant for.

TIA
