Word as Email Editor in Outlook 2000

Hello,

When I click "use word as your email editor" in Outlook
2000 or when I send a word document as an email the
spacing is automatically doubled despite the fact that it
is defaulted at "single spacing". Why is this happening?
How do I fix the problem?
