Word as Email Editor Problems

Ok, Word is my email editor. I can launch Word from my XP
Office installation etc.

In Outlook, whenever I open a new message I get an error
saying (paraphrased) cannot find Word or it is not
installed.

Maybe I should just uninstall and go to the beach...

KB 284900 doesn't really apply. This is a new PC with XP
preinstalled, and a 60 version of Office XP.

I installed Office XP from CD, including Outlook and ran
into this problem.

Diane,

Thank you for your response. I shall certainly try the
Repair utility. It may be the panacea for my Office XP
problems.

If I ever see you on the 'beach', I'll be sure to
say, "Hi".

The beach sounds like a good idea... but have you tried detect and repair?
the steps in this kb may help:

Are you using ActiveSync or something that uses outlook's data and loads
before you open outlook? open outlook first... then the other utility.
