Word as email editor selection greyed out.

It seems that here at my work an end user is unable to select Word as the
email editor in Office XP. Everything I can think of to look at that might
effect this selection appears fine. Almost the entire Message Format section
of Options is greyed out. "Compose in this messagte format:", "Use Microsoft
Office Word to edit e-mail messages", and "Use Microsoft Office Word to read
Rich Text e-mail messages" are all three greyed out. Any ideas?

Word is installed and fucntions correctly. This was the first thing I tried
and should have been mentioned. Do you think a reinstall of Word might be in
order?

Are they different versions? If you have Office 2003, for example, it won't
notice Word 2002.

Any GPOs in effect?
