word cannot open existing (normal.dot )

I am working on OLE automation using VS.NET 2003 and MS Word 2002. At most
of the times when I try to open a document I get the message '' word cannot
open existing (normal.dot )'' file message. I have tried the same using word
2000 and its working fine...
any help would be appreciated.

Is there a file management system active on this machine? Antivirus software,
perhaps? Most likely, Norton AV, with the Office Plug-in? Try deactivating
that and see if things behave differently?
