When trying to open Word in Microsoft Office for Mac, it may appear. But quite often, especially when trying to run spell check, Word closes abruptly.
Although I have just moved from Windows to Mac a few days ago, this problem happens even with users who stick to PCs and don´t move to Mac.
Maybe this problem (Word closes down often, especially if I try to run the spell check) is because of duplicate fonts? or fonts got messed up? (in the last years, I've used several versions of Word in my hundreds of Word documents).
