Word closes out and Temp. files not deleted

Running Office XP.
Word closes out and Temp. files not deleted - usually
when copying between files. Document is recovered but my
folders are being populated with temporary files! I have
downloaded the latest service pack, re-installed Word,
manually deleted the temp. files, run a full system scan
with Norton, defragmented the hard drive. Problem not
resolved. Any helpful suggestions?

Sounds like Word is crashing on Close or it's not closing correctly.
Try starting Word from Start -> Run and enter Winword /safe
If Word does close ok now, then it could be a damaged Normal.dot, a Registry
setting, or an Addin that is interrupting the normal close.
